“Don’t Ever Punch A Rock Star: A Collection Of Hate Mail And Other Crazy Rumors” Receives A 10th Anniversary Reissue Via DiWulf Publishing

It’s been 19 years since North Side Kings’ Danny Marianino stepped into internet infamy with his one-punch knockout of punk legend Glenn Danzig in Tuba CityIt was 8 years after that incident that Danny, assaulted with barrages of messageboard hate mail, decided to take these misspelled missives and turn them into comedy gold. And, thus, Don’t Ever Punch A Rock Star: A Collection of Hate Mail and Other Crazy Rumors was born. In it, Danny collected and re-printed the worst of the grammatically-challenged invective and turned insult to art.

In the 10 years since that self-published book hit the shelves, Danny has gone on to become a prolific writer, authoring several other books, including his amazing collaboration with Australian artist  Mick Lambrou, the hysterical It Blows My Mind. But you know how the internet goes – they only wanted to hear about one thing. Danny, being the accommodating bloke that he is, gave it to them.

DiWulf Publishing House teams up with Total Gavone Publishing to bring forth the expanded, 10th anniversary edition of Don’t Ever Punch a Rock Star, replete with a ton of new photos, new stories, a forward from Gloria Cavalera, and, of course, more bizarre hate mail. This new edition continues in Danny’s inimitable, self-effacing voice. His ability to turn what could have been a disastrous moment into an uplifting tale of escaping infamy, of rising above a genre’s (very real and very deep-seeded) antipathy, and becoming a beloved figure is even more evident with a decade’s worth of perspective. Spend two minutes talking to Danny: you’ll find him a genuine, affable, and witty man whose positivity and smile are infectious. He’s just a nice Italian boy from Jersey.

Danny’s newest version of his oldest book really allows the reader to see the man behind the YouTube clip and gives some insight into how demented and rabid some people can become when they are behind the safety of a keyboard or a phone. It also shows the strength and determination it takes to shake off so much vitriol and emerge unchanged. In short, it shows the enormous size of Danny’s heart and gives the reader a LOT of laughs along the way.
