Soda Cracker Jesus – Space Boy

After many successful and critically acclaimed singles like My Anthem, Drug My Soul, Kill It Tomorrow, Kaleidoscope, and Hoping For The Best, Tacoma-based artist Soda Cracker Jesus returns with another exceptional composition that will unquestionably appeal to all the fans of an alternative rock sound. Space Boy serves as an appropriate continuation of Soda Cracker Jesus‘ previous works, but it also showcases some innovations in songwriting, composing, and producing. Perhaps this composition explores the fundamentals of an alternative rock, but you’ll immediately notice how other complementary music genres like art rock, glam rock, garage rock, and classic rock inspired Soda Cracker Jesus to assemble such a magnificent song. The artist implemented some of the finest properties borrowed from these similar styles, but every addition serves as an enhancement, accentuation, decoration, and other detail that undoubtedly uplifts this number on an entirely new level.

Space Boy resonates with a fresh and unique ambiance, rarely heard on an alternative rock scene nowadays. Soda Cracker Jesus has achieved this characteristic sound by blending all the mentioned genres above but also by implementing some of the best ideas you’ll hear in a while. The song commences with catchy warm-sounding basslines, moderate rhythmic sequences, arpeggiated keys, and flawlessly performed vocal harmonies. You’ll notice how Space Boy gradually becomes even more complex until the powerful chorus kicks in, and then all the orchestrations shine with even more power. Also, the immensely detailed chord progressions and high-pitched synth leads burst during this particular segment, so the entire track gets an otherworldly dimension. Of course, the remainder of the song sounds equally good, and it seems like the artist included even more orchestrations in the following parts. Soda Cracker Jesus thoroughly planned each sonic maneuver and rhythmic sequence, so Space Boy sounds detailed and energetic, with many layers of sound arriving from every possible direction. It’s one of the best compositions you’ll hear on the modern alternative rock scene, so you should check it out as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
