It has been a while since I wrote a review for Are You Ready, the latest 7″ release by Minneapolis action rockers Fret Rattles. The batch with the remainder of their discography arrived last week, so now it’s more than appropriate time to write a couple of lines about Pedal To The Metal And Damn The Consequences, their second full-length album released in 2016. As I mentioned in my previous review, Fret Rattles dedicated themselves to delivering the true sounds of rock’n’roll, and this particular record is all about it. Therefore, if you are searching for an album that showcases the best moves rock’n’roll has to offer, Pedal To The Metal And Damn The Consequences are more than a good starting point.

Pedal To The Metal And Damn The Consequences carries seven catchy action rock compositions that could serve as an appropriate high-octane injection you desperately need. Some readers might argue if this material is a full-length or a 12″ EP, but I’ll leave that debate to them. The only important thing right now is that Fret Rattles are not joking with their music. Quite the contrary, their version of the late sixties to mid-seventies garage rock empowered with impressive hard rock licks and punk rock dynamics sounds divine. You’ll have many difficulties discovering weak moments while listening to the Pedal To The Metal And Damn The Consequences because of the precision and musicianship these creative rockers invested in every song. The best part about this particular album is that each track sounds like the best garage rock/action rock composition you ever heard.

I adore that thick layer of raw, abrasive, heavily distorted ambiance these guys deliver through their music. This dirtiness pushes the entire material to a new level and gives more ferociousness/aggression to these tracks. You’ll notice that each composition comes with cleverly assembled riffs that remain instantly imprinted into your memory. You’ll also love those simplistic but effective pentatonic scale guitar solos that perfectly match those riffs. Of course, Pedal To The Metal And Damn The Consequences wouldn’t sound so powerful without detailed basslines and profoundly dynamic drumming performance. Every musician plays a significant role in this sonic equation from beginning to end. Pedal To The Metal And Damn The Consequences is a must for all action, garage, and punk rock fans.
