Friendship Commanders Release New Single & Video “And if My Body”; A Response To The Overturning Of Roe v. Wade

Nashville’s melodic heavy duo Friendship Commandersvocalist/guitarist Buick Audra and drummer/bassist Jerry Roe, are pleased to share their new single and video “And if My Body.” Just in time for election season, “And if My Body” is a defiant rejection of bodily control as imposed by the government or any other factions of American society. The song, and its accompanying video which was directed by the band, debuted today at TrebleZine and will be on all streaming platforms this Friday for any playlist shares.

Following the destructive and dangerous Supreme Court decision to overturn the landmark ruling Roe v. Wade, Friendship Commanders’ Buick Audra points out the hypocrisy of expecting labor and cooperation from people with uteruses, while systematically removing their human rights. The track was mixed by their longtime collaborator Kurt Ballou (Converge, GodCity Studio), and mastered by Brad Boatright. More than a protest song, “And if My Body” is a loud boundary.

Buick Audra says, “This is a failure of such enormity that we can’t even see the scope of it yet. It will ripple out for decades. And I find myself asking questions of not just the conservative minority who pushed this through, but of people on the Left as well. This is a product of many things, not the least of which are complacency and privilege. I have watched this happen; watched my peers downplay, minimize, and ignore all warnings that we activists have been shouting for years. And here we are, now. Failure.”

“And if My Body” will be featured on a limited, colored vinyl 12” EP, RELEASE THE REST out December 1 (pre-order). With a title that responds to the 2020 EP, HOLD ON TO YOURSELF, RTR is a compilation of the five singles Friendship Commanders released throughout the pandemic: “Stonechild,” “Your Reign Is Over,” “Altar,” “Land of Men,” and now, “And if My Body.” The collection of singles has been remastered for vinyl by Brad Boatright and will be pressed to semi-transparent lavender vinyl.

Friendship Commanders will celebrate the release of “And if My Body” with select tour dates throughout November and December. Additional shows will be announced shortly.

Friendship Commanders’ work focuses on issues of injustice, gender, abuse survival, and societal imbalance. The band’s third album will be released in 2023; it was co-produced, engineered, and mixed by Kurt Ballou, and was recorded at his Salem, MA studio, GodCity.
