HÖG To Release Ready For The End 7″ Via Dust Up! Records On October 14th

The emoji wearing a cowboy hat, but today he is not smiling. He will undoubtedly find no reason to smile tomorrow either. Perhaps he may never smile again. For today his mind has turned to glory days of his youth, a happier time, before the perils of modern life withered and warped his face and frame from a rugged, handsome “cow-boy” to a hideous and frail “cow-man”.

This troubling and ultimately quite stupid story provides a stark metaphorical insight into the world of HÖG, the six member Ōtautahi/Christchurch rock and roll punk band who have been lighting up bar stages around New Zealand with energetic riffs, catchy hooks and big choruses.

Formed in 2021 from the ashes of numerous local bands like the Tacks, Zhukov and Arm and Hammer,  HÖG is releasing their first EP, which is called READY FOR THE END, on Dust Up! Records on 14 October. Recorded by Brian Feary at The Dogshit Factory, the EP features four tracks of synth driven rock and roll, punctuated with heavy vocals and songs about feelin’ bad, all the time.

HÖG takes musical influence from the likes of Laughing Hyenas, the Murder City Devils, Rose Tattoo and Sheer Mag. They embrace the story telling elements of dadrock like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, but with a DIY hardcore mindset and ethic that sees them more likely to be playing pokies lounges than stadiums.
