Quirky North West Ireland indie 4 piece Undercover Martians are back with the first single taken from their upcoming 5 track EP.
Sarcasm Is Sexy was initially written in late 2018 and first performed back in early 2019.
The band reckon “the song is our poppiest to date” and we are not inclined to disagree. It still retains some of the rawness of the early singles (recorded by Anthony Wall in a Sligo front room), but it’s more polished and structured. And recorded in a studio! The initial wah wah guitar figure is a classic indie opening and gives way to Dáithí’s distinctive vocals. It’s as the track develops that things get more interesting with a soaring sweet falsetto and echoing backing vocals reflecting what is essentially an ode to falling in love.
It’s the first taste of the band’s debut EP and we are well looking forward to it. No sarcasm.
