IOISH Share Video For What You Need It For

The progressive rock/post-rock band IOISH from New Delhi, India, is excited to release its newest jazz-infused collective effort “What You Need It For”!

After kicking off “What You Need It For” with its immersive signature synth lines, IOISH dive deep within its jazz influences, incorporating a fast jazz-style drumline alongside a clean guitar riff. IOISH crowns off the arrangement with the addition of the horns, lifting the song up to a more optimistic direction while adding another layer of texture to the song. IOISH finishes the song off with a smooth transition into a post-rock ending.

What You Need It For” is about those little things in life that put the light into you and make you want to get out of your bed in the morning. As the mastermind Vaibhav Bhutani stated:

It could be something as simple as a paintbrush that you bought the other day but didn’t get around to using it, or as impactful as that instrument you always wanted but you never got to because you were worried with something else that probably isn’t even a part of you anymore. It’s about respecting the essence of the tiny details that people usually take for granted but don’t realise that those details/things usually paint the bigger picture in the long term.

IOISH’s sound is a mix of soulful guitars layered with atmospheric textures that are soaked in melodious grooves and riffs evoking a progressive rock feel. The combined elements create an immersive and moody trip that the audience can immediately engage with.

Over the years the band played with the likes of Tides From Nebula, I Am Waiting For You Last Summer, The Ocean Collective, Intervals and As I Lay Dying during their Indian tours.

The project’s founder Vaibhav Bhutani has been working in the music industry for 18 years. He started producing music 12 years ago, then he composed music for all Viacom 18 channels including Discovery Channel. After parting with Viacom, Bhutani got a degree in sound therapy.

What You Need It For” was produced by Vaibhav Bhutani, and mixed and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima (Ayreon, Devin Townsend, SepticFlesh, Between The Buried And Me). The horn section was composed and performed by Meredith Moore, who plays with giants like Paul McCartney, The Royal Orchestra, and she composed for a number of Pixar movies. The artwork was designed by Shakoor Bukhuth.
