LIFE Share Video For Duck Egg Blue; North East Coastal Town LP Out August 10th Via Liquid Label

Ahead of the imminent release of their highly anticipated third album – “North East Coastal Town” – LIFE return today with “Duck Egg Blue”, the fourth song to be unveiled from the record ahead of the release on 19 August.

More introspective than any of the band’s material to-date, “Duck Egg Blue” shows a different side to the band as vocalist Mez Green’s boisterous and sardonic vocal style is swapped for tender, ruminative lyrics that glide across a meditative rhythm section, which ebbs and flows with subtle electronic elements around a gentle guitar loop.

Speaking on the new release Mez says: “‘Duck Egg Blue’ is a realist’s love song. The journey of trying to navigate through each other’s feelings and emotions, the strains of close quarters trapped in a tiny flat, the minutiae of everyday life. The overarching sentiment is that no matter what happens, after all that is said and done, we love each other, and we are there for each other.”

The single is also accompanied by a new video which sees different colours of paint swirling and merging with each other. The visual is taken from bassist Lydia Palmeria and her girlfriend painting their bedroom. Speaking on it the band says, “The video for Duck Egg Blue is mix of paint and sentiment, of love and frustration, and the process of turning house into home.”

“Duck Egg Blue” forms part of the backbone of LIFE’s new album “North East Coastal Town”. Much like “Friends Without Names” (BBC Radio 6 Music A-listed single), “Duck Egg Blue” was recorded in a round at The Chapel and was built using a canvas of intimate and delicate sounds that reflect its lyrical subject matter. LIFE recorded the song just after midnight, with very few takes, to give it that authentic cracked sound.

“Duck Egg Blue” follows current single “The Drug” which has just been promoted from to the A-list at BBC Radio 6 Music. This was preceded by singles “Big Moon Lake“ & “Friends Without Names“ which were also playlisted at BBC Radio 6 Music as well as various European radio stations.
