San Diego has a rich history of hardcore dating back to Amenity during the Reagan Era, to Unbroken, House of Suffering, and Struggle in the ’90s, to Over My Dead Body, Take Offense, and Mizery in the ’00s.
Abstain pick up where Unbroken left off, melding metallic hardcore riffs with heavy breakdowns and a decisively straight edge message.
Their debut EP, Infirm of Purpose, was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Terror’s Nick Jett (Strife, Berthold City, Backtrack, Rotting Out) and will see a Summer 2022 release date via WAR Records.
Comprised of 5 songs clocking in at just under 14 minutes, Infirm of Purpose serves as the perfect introduction to Abstain’s sonic and lyrical arena.
With influences ranging from architects of the ‘90s hardcore sound like Unbroken, Earth Crisis, and Hatebreed, to modern influences such as Magnitude and Year of the Knife, Abstain are poised to help put San Diego back on the map!
