InRetrospect Release Video For Eclipse; safe_haven. EP Out Now

InRetrospect animate their core beliefs in a relentless barrage of harmonious noise. The band strives to challenge the anguish that we as a species impose on the world around us so willingly, without ever considering the consequences. InRetrospect is a collective aiming to change the insatiable existential crisis known as the modern world. Illustrating soundscapes that display themes of mental deterioration, emotional hardship and pain in its truest and most extreme form, the band deliver their message for change. Utilising their anger, passion and energy not only in the studio, but also in their live shows, they captivate audiences with a thought-provoking and ground-shaking aplomb.

InRetrospect have shared stages with Lastelle, InVisions, Death Blooms, Graphic Nature, Blood Youth, Monasteries, Gassed Up and more, and also played at Burn It Down Festival in 2021. The bands previous singles have deservedly garnered support from Metal Hammer, BBC, Amazing Radio, Primordial Radio, Distortion Radio, ARFM, The Faction, Idobi Radio, Heavy Mag, GigRadar, Total Rock Radio, HM Magazine, Ollie Winiberg, Knotfest, Moshville Times and more. Furthermore, the band have had support from Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, Pandora, Tidal and Apple music, surpassing 300,000+ streams on Spotify alone. 2022 sees the band continuing to tour intensely, sharing stages with the likes of We Struck Gold, Tyrants and more. InRetrospect release their debut EP ‘Current State’ on the 10th June 2022. The band’s EP release is accompanied by a music video for focus track ‘Eclipse’ which showcases the band’s ferocious live show.

Tobias Clark said“Our final single from the current_state EP cycle, ‘eclipse.’, is the darkest song that InRetrospect have written to date. The title of the track refers to the metaphorical light of reason and happiness being gradually obstructed and obscured, slowly erasing the source of this illumination for our character, until nothing remains but darkness. Many of our songs throughout this EP have focused heavily on tackling social issues through a futuristic lens, and ‘eclipse.’ is no exception. Depression is a key theme within this song, and our vocalist Nathan makes repeated references throughout his lyrics to light and darkness, to mirror the longing for an escape from this state. Lyrics such as ‘just want another moment where I can feel the wind across my face, and see the light’, and ‘I find myself alone again, with no one to show me the light of reason’, directly reflect the endless search for happiness in a world devoid of hope, both literally and metaphorically. Our video for ‘eclipse.’ was shot at the Key Club in Leeds by a long running collaborator of the band Alex Dixon of Black Box photography, the live footage was then edited by Ralph Fuller of Grain Freeze. The visual madness that Fuller has been able to manifest utilising a range of abstract processing for our live footage has really shocked and impressed us. His editing truly has brought this video to life, complementing our established retro-futurism image perfectly and pushing our aesthetic further than we ever could have hoped. With two music videos and two visualisers released for the current_state, EP so far, we decided to use heavily edited live footage as a way to diversify the content for this EP cycle. With ‘eclipse.’ We were hoping to create a video that lays somewhere in between a visualiser and a music video, and thanks to the creativity of our team we’ve managed to produce what we believe to be one of the most vivid and imaginative singles we’ve ever released.
