The Static Age Signs To SBÄM, New Single Out Now

After a long wait, The Static Age will release a new album this year. 11 years after “In The City Of Wandering Lights” the band around singer Andrew Paley has signed with SBÄM Records and releases a foretaste with “Traffic Dreams”.

Traffic Dreams is out now on all streaming platforms. The Static Age will appear on this year’s Pouzza Fest in Canada and will tour with label mates SNUFF and The Von Tramps across Europe in October. A hometown show is booked on May, 15 at Liar’s Club in Chicago, IL. 

Emerging from the idealistic side of punk rock and inspired by the last 30 years of alternative music, The Static Age has been bending genres for nearly two decades. Equally at home with angular distortion and layered atmosphere, the band is creating an emotionally resonant and ever-evolving collection of songs that owes as much to its origin as a group of teenagers in the wide expanse of the Vermont wilderness as it does to a blurring of the line between post-punk, early alternative, intelligent pop, and shoegaze. Along the way, they’ve drawn comparisons ranging from The Cure to Mew, from The Chameleons UK to Jimmy Eat World, and from The Police to The Replacements, all while collaborating with a number of other artists, including Jade Puget of AFI and Kurt Ballou of Converge. Additionally, The Static Age has toured across North America and Europe countless times, playing with a wide array of bands including AFI, Tiger Army, A Place to Bury Strangers, The Explosion, Interpol, and Slingshot Dakota, and appearing on a variety of festivals including FM4 Frequency Festival (Austria), T-Music Majales Festival (Czech Republic), Faine Misto (Ukraine), SXSW, and CMJ.
