Croatian indie-post-rock trio ŽEN premieres Krizantema, the second and the last single for this year that promotes their upcoming fourth studio album, which is announced for spring 2022. Krizantema comes with an appropriate video, which you can check out below.
Krizantema is inspired by everything that takes place in cycles. A story about the circle of life and the constant movement and transformation of energy. Nothing disappears, it just changes its form. It was also the starting point for the video, signed by the creative tandem of Marina Uzelac and Nevena Stanić, who made numerous videos of bands together for as Koala Voice, Ti, Nežni Dalibor, Seine, and Ana & The Changes.
Marina Uzelac said about the video: “The video was made in a technique closest to something called” Liquid Light Show”; which includes layers of water, paint, shower, oil, etc. which move over the overhead projector and make different shapes. At first, we had the idea to combine multiple techniques because we were afraid it would be boring to watch it for five minutes, but as we progressed through the experimentation, and I edited the material in parallel, we realized this technique fits perfectly into the sound of the band and that we can convey the feeling and dynamics of the song using only the overhead projector. “
The song was recorded in the Tralala studio, which was started by the band. The mix was done by Saša Rajković – Zarkoff, with whom the band has been collaborating for many years, especially since the album “Sunčani Ljudi”, while the mastering is signed by Dutch producer Martijn Tyrell who is better known on the electro scene as Alden Tyrell.
