Edinburgh, Scotland indie artist Anchor The Sun recently released a brand new single. Going Through The Motions is the sixth single from the series of singles Anchor The Sun launched in 2020. It’s a calmy, soothing, melancholic indie rock/indie pop ballad about feeling trapped and struggling to believe in the possibility of change. The composition possesses arpeggiated chord progressions, untraditional harmonics, and pleasant chants. Therefore, the song resonates with a divine, fresh, unique ambiance that indulges listening apparatus from scratch to finish. Going Through The Motions transits from a calmy ballad to a moderate indie rock number with a non-characteristic rhythm for this particular genre, but the rhythm is what makes this song even more special.
Going Through The Motions is also followed by an appropriate video. The video was produced in Zurich by the Austria-based Brazilian filmmaker Eduardo Mandim. The costume used in the video is an original 60s dress Lilly found at a renowned vintage shop in Edinburgh.
Lilly sad about the video: Lilly says, “it was the most memorable shoot of my life – from getting lost and ending up on a ferry boat to playing a guitar solo in the rain and feeling cold for hours on end, it’s for these experiences that we do it, that’s why we love creating so much.”
The video perfectly reflects the theme Anchor The Sun tries to describe during the entire song. Every single detail of it is important. It’s full of hidden meanings, so you should pay close attention while watching it. Going Through The Motions is available for listening on all streaming services, while the video is available for watching on YouTube.
