Mourning Noise
The uprising of punk rock during the 1970s not just affected armies of music fans through political and social discourses, it likewise roused a whole age of sprouting artists to get the guitar, drum sticks, sledgehammer, whatever and shape up their bands. One such defiant upstart was Steve Zing, who found motivation in a legendary horror-punk outfit out of New Jersey called The Misfits. Steve was one of the few youngsters who used to sit on the wall outside the rehearsing room and listen The Misfits rehearsals,” remembers Misfits founder and vocalist Glenn Danzig. Zing would ultimately shape Mourning Noise, a piss-and-vinegar powered bad-to-the-bone troublemaker bunch that, similar to their shock punk tutors, inclined the dull and grotesque – evil spirits, graves, beasts, and so forth. Although brief, Mourning Noise created a commotion to be noticed by Danzig, who later recruited Zing to both Samhain and Danzig.
The complete studio chronicles from Mourning Noise are being reissued as a deluxe collection that carries rare studio outtakes plus a special live performance at the legendary WFMU studio (CD and digital-only bonus tracks). Likewise, Zing has composed all new liner notes sharing the whole history of this brief yet significant band. The collection also features the full support and introductory blurb from Glenn Danzig.
Mourning Noise will be available on both CD and your choice of 3 vinyl colors – blue, pink and red, as well as on all digital platforms starting July 2! Head over to Cleopatra Records and pre-order your copy.
