The musicians have a lot more spare time to write, compose, record, produce compositions which will later become an integral part of their recordings. David Christy Jones is one of those musicians who wisely spent his time in previous months. This Irish artist describes himself as an eccentric multi-instrumentalist and producer, so I can only assume that he wrote and performed his compositions in the spirit of DIY ethics. Welcome To Virology represents a debut full-length album by David Christy Jones, but he previously released a couple of singles such as Virology, Idiocy, and Before The Cold. These tunes are acting as sort of overtures to his debut material, heavily promoted over social media. However, these introducing pieces of work are not entirely revealing as much as the actual album. Perhaps David wisely left more detailed tunes for those willing to solely submerge into highly experimental progressive rock material. Nevertheless, Welcome To Virology goes way beyond the aesthetics of experimental progressive rock music. His music also encapsulates the elements such as funk, soul, jazz, blues, alternative, hip hop, garage rock, and hard rock. Still, experimental progressive rock is unquestionably his primary weapon of choice.

Welcome To Virology acts as an expanded universe with multiple sonic clusters. Each cluster reveals a group of fully detailed polyphonic systems based upon countless musical surprises. Each composition hides tons of wondrously executed ideas performed to perfection. David incorporated all the abovementioned genres, but his music doesn’t sound off by any means. Quite the contrary, he thoroughly planned and thought about each segment of his songs until he reached harmoniously assembled material. It’s nearly mindblowing how some tunes range from contemporary experimental ambiances to late eighties progressive rock, but, all of a sudden, David decides to include some rapping, bluesy chants, or classic hard rock acrobatics to spice things up even more. This material is an experimental masterpiece by all means. Keep your eyes peeled on April 17th, when this outstanding experimental rock album will be available at all streaming services.
