Igel vs. Shark – Igel vs. Shark LP (Pogo’s Empire)

Nothing is definite when it comes to rock’n’roll. This spectacular genre has been here for ages, and it ripens like a fine wine during its evolutive process. It derived so many subgenres that it’s almost impossible to encompass them all under one branch. To be more precise, contemporary music trends owe so much to this distinctive genre that most of the admirers of the modern guitar sound are mostly unaware of its significance. Today, we are covering a spectacular band emerging from Vienna, one of the most important cultural centers of Europe. Igel vs. Shark has begun their sonic explorations in 2009 and became one of the most important promulgators of rock music in the region. The band has shared the stage with renowned acts such as AC/DC, Skunk Anansie, Airbourne, The Subways, Flogging Molly…plus many many more, so that converses a lot regarding the quality of their music. With a few line-up alterations and a scantier break from 2012 to 2014, Igel vs. Shark was equipped to proceed further in their career and take things even more seriously. The trio has refined sound until perfection, picked up the exact course, and determined to record a self-titled debut album comprised of twelve notable tunes. Igel vs. Shark tends to recreate the seventies and eighties straightforward hard rock sound through an entire specter of excellent chord progressions that vividly evoke these pivotal decades for rock’n’roll scene. The guitar virtuosities have been immersed in graciously performed warm sounding basslines that enhance the guitar harmonizations. These instrumentations have been conducted by a very precise drumming performance, which unquestionably contributes a lot of vitality to the entire group. Complete orchestrations of this outstanding trio have been guided by high-pitched lead vocals, and compelling singalongs, mainly hearable at the memorable choruses. Igel vs. Shark undoubtfully sound energetic during the entire material, and it appears that each subsequent number tops the preceding one. The band evolves through remarkable harmonizations, clever arrangements, and loads of dynamics, therefore their music articulates through dozen of danceable, entertainful moments. Considering showcased musical direction, it seems that band members were profoundly inspired by the AC/DC, MC5, The Hellacopters, Turbonegro, or such bands throughout the composing process. However, Igel vs. Shark appears to be even more vigorous than the aforementioned groups, mainly because of the fact that these numbers sound much more ferocious, dynamic, and entertaining. This self-titled debut album has been supplemented by marvelously illustrated cover artwork. The record also includes color inlay that holds a lyric sheet and all the essential pieces of information about the band. Besides vinyl edition, this astounding recording has been distributed on compact disc, but you can also purchase it on Spotify and Deezer.
