Palms is a first tape release by Bitten By A Cobra, one man art / grindcore project by David Hardenfalk, who’s also known as a guitar player at Happy Trash Culture. While Happy Trash Culture were more into punk rock music back in the days, Bitten By A Cobra is much more of a grindcore, crust, doom project, but with a twist of electronic explorations mostly expressed in very distorted blastbeats and wierd synth / piano melodies. Guitar riffs range from sludgy intros and metalcore scales to plain grindcore riffs which I dig the most on this material. David Hardenfalk is not a stranger to all of these genres and he’s incorporating everything together like a proffessional, resulting pretty diverse material full of quality tunes such as opening grindy Death Rally Map, brilliant Small Town Heels which possess such a good guitar riff in the middle of a track and such a wierd surf rock outro, while astonishing grimy melody of Cicles is bringing up almost macabre / horror atmosphere to the modern grind classic called What Happens Next When The Food Runs Out, then Drink-Blackness with aggressive drum roll which brings exactly twenty seven seconds of hysterical yelling while the simple, but effective riff is filling in the background, plus the other tunes which are maybe not notable as those I mentioned above, but still worth listening. Palms are coming on the transparent glittery cassette with a nice cardbord cover and you can get a copy by directly writing to Bitten By A Cobra on a official bandcamp page.
