For James O’Hurley, the last 12 months have been a whirlwind. The London-based troubadour, at his lowest ebb, was on the verge of quitting music forever, before one last strum on the guitar opened the door to a string of incredible new songs.
To paraphrase an old saying, the proof is in the following – a number of James’ songs have breezed into streaming numbers totalling the tens of thousands and his debut album, ‘A Certain Stranger’, has received a hugely positive response from fans and journalists alike – ‘Simply Mesmerising’ (Goth Girl), ‘Well crafted and highly individualistic’ (Fabrications HQ), ‘ready to be the soundtrack to your next favourite TV show or long road trip’ (Emerging Rock Bands), ‘as organic as it is distinctive’ (Vents Magazine).
On the 20th June, James released final single and video from the debut album.
Saint Jude is a Rock ’n’ Roll stomp, with a Motown back beat, layered with huge, atmospheric guitars, all building to a final crescendo. As James reports:
“The lyrics to Saint Jude are my favourite on the album. They are incredibly personal words that I think everyone can relate to; the idea of being left to pick up the pieces and searching for answers. Saint Jude is the axis of the whole album for that reason. What seems impossible might just be the thing that sets you free. You just have to keep believing. Saint Jude will be there.”
The Saint Jude single release is accompanied by a brand new video, directed by Erim Ahmet, who also produced and performed Drums, Piano, Organ, Bass Guitar & Percussion on the track alongside Pete Briley who contributed Electric Guitars, Lap Steel, Pedal Steel & Backing Vocals.
James will also be performing with his band a selection of key live dates at beautiful and unique venues throughout the summer on his Midnight Moon Tour, including:
21st June – 21 Soho, London
9th August – Bigg Theatre, Stevenage
15th August – The Victoria Institute, Arundel
