Nashville-based indie rock outfit Malibu Blackout are carving out a bold new chapter in their musical journey. Formed in 2017 by longtime collaborators Cory Calvin, Chris Husak, and David “Woody” Woods, the trio’s decade-and-a-half chemistry has yielded two EPs and a full-length album, culminating in 2023’s The Nights Were Wrapped In Gold. That same year, the band welcomed guitarist Andy Blum, whose affinity for Fender blackface tones and Telecaster twang brought a rich new texture to their fuzz-laden sound.
Blending elements of western and surf guitar into their indie rock foundation, Malibu Blackout are now in the studio shaping their second LP, expected in late 2025. With a soundscape that nods to reverb-heavy tradition while embracing modern grit, the group continues expanding its footprint across the Southeast and Midwest.
For Malibu Blackout, music remains a lifelong pursuit of passion—rooted in brotherhood, growth, and the unshakable love of sound.
