For over fifteen years, Mašinko has been entertaining its large audience with their punk rock tunes. This Zagreb based band has three albums, two split releases, one board game and one Christmas single under their belt, as well as a large number of concerts in Croatia and beyond. With their cheerful and clever punk rock anthems, Mašinko guarantees great entertainment, and although at first glance they offer countless odes to drinking, a theme that somehow runs through their lyrics, Mašinko is a band that offers much more.

PASMATERS

Pasmaters is a hardcore punk band from Pula. Formed in 1984, they celebrated 40 years of activity last year. From their first demo, “Odmazda”, to the present, the band has built an extensive discography. Among their numerous releases, notable albums include “Pasmaters” (2002), “Seeing Through Hardcore” (2008), “Unload Your Pain” (2009), “You Can’t Stop This” (2016), and “Za Dec Metronoma Više” (2019). With multiple European tours and countless concerts across the continent, Pasmaters have been – and remain – a hardcore punk institution.

ODPADKI CIVILIZACIJE

Oldschool hardcore punk band from Ljubljana, Odpadki civilizacije, was formed in 1982, and they played their first concert in 1983 at the legendary Disk FV. With their fast, aggressive, and uncompromising hardcore, they established themselves as one of the most politically and socially engaged hardcore bands in the former Yugoslavia. After appearances on legendary compilations of that era, concerts, and lineup changes, they faced a similar fate to many other bands of that time. The army separated them, and they became legends. They returned to the stage in 2022 at the Gromka club, surprising everyone with their energy and speed, something many didn’t expect from a band that had been “asleep” for 35 years. The band currently has numerous concerts, and since their return to the scene, they have released two split albums.

STRATUS

Stratus is a hardcore punk/thrash metal band from Šibenik, founded in the early ’90s and reactivated in 2020. For the past four years, they have been playing all over Croatia at various festivals and solo concerts. Stratus has inherited a rebellious hardcore punk expression and has delivered several unforgettable performances during this period, including a show at the Monte Paradiso festival back in 1996. Their legacy includes one release, Kratko i jasno (“Short and Clear”), recorded in Nula’s rehearsal room and released on cassette. Tomi, Stipe, and Ante, three members of the original lineup, have been joined on drums by Jere from the Šibenik-based bands Cult Of Reborn, Disaster, and Zlobnik.

KALIKAMO

KaliKamo is a new experimental electro-dub quartet inspired by improvisation, the creative thrill of making music, and the pursuit of comfort and great sound. The band was formed in the fall of 2023 when KudiKamo? arrived in Šibenik for the Fališ festival (Azimut) and, in collision with Luka Mrša (trumpet) and Miroslav Csatalinac a.k.a. Chakka (microphone), laid the foundation for an extraordinary musical project. Their debut album, “Jedinstvo” (Unity), is set to be released in late February 2025 via PDV, introduced by two singles “Stratus” and “Gličer”. “The story of JEDINSTVO is multilayered, but it can easily be wrapped into one orbit around the sun. A spontaneous encounter at the Ninja gathering – at a moment when one world was collapsing (Kali Fat Dub) and another was transforming (KudiKamo?) – led to a brilliant camaraderie, with JEDINSTVO as the fruit of this immaculate conception,” say KaliKamo.

URLIK

Urlik is a Belgrade-based garage punk quartet formed in 2020, composed of musicians who have been roaming the underground music scene for decades. If you find comfort in bands like The Wipers, Motörhead, GBH, and Poison Idea while craving something authentic and unpretentious, look no further. After all, the band’s name itself says it all – Urlik (Howl). Their soundscape roars with a whirlwind of emotions, reflecting the raw power and despair often found in the abrasive, foggy depths of misanthropic punk. Last year, they released their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album through Geenger Records. You’ve probably seen it ranked high on the year-end top lists of those who truly know what’s good.

Žulj

Žulj is a punk band from Rijeka, formed in 2015. The following year, they recorded “Vlažne pjesme” (Moist Songs). In line with their low-hygiene gathering conditions, the themes are predominantly damp. In 2018, they shifted their lyrics towards the ‘original’ punk theme of exposing the stinking reality, leading to the release of “Resetiraj civilizaciju” (Reset Civilization) on LP under Monsterbilly Records. Their next EP, “Kultura” (Culture), released in 2021, was awarded Work of the Year by the RiRock Association. The group embraces a DIY approach – so much so that they even go to the toilet by themselves. Future plans include ceasing to exist.
