MC16 Announce New Album

Following the success of last year’s debut Machine Code, UK punk festival stalwarts MC16 make a swift return with album two.

Produced once again by the in-demand Dave Draper (Michael Monroe, The Wildhearts, Marc Valentine), the album’s title – We’re Gonna Need A Milkman – is typically cryptic: “Trouble on your doorstep? Need the police? Nah, we’re gonna need a milkman. The public trust in milkmen is high! (yet only 62 % for the police according to the recent YouGov poll). The Milkman’s early morning whistling is the soundtrack of a happy society. Keep Calm and Carry On! Everything is going to be ok!”

MC16 drummer Duffy explains “This album is not as political as the last one. Politics gets us really angry which kind of dictates what the songs turn out like so we wanted this album to be more personal because we can actually be happy sometimes.”

“Although some milkmen block the damn road sometimes when they are delivering which is bloody annoying when you are trying to get to work,” he adds.

Despite its sunnier outlook, the album does still paddle in the muddy puddles of modern life, covering subjects like helping a drug addict friend, the commercial exploitation of Mars, AI overtaking evolution, bias against regional accents, and how we are descended from apes yet treat them terribly.  

“OK, it’s slightly happier then!” admits bassist Quinn.

Formed in Wolverhampton by three strangers who kept meeting at gigs, the original incarnation of MC16 didn’t last, with guitarist/singer Carson upping sticks for London after being burgled for the third time. Over time and distance, the band reformed, and this is the line-up that has lasted. MC16 have since played Rebellion Festival three times, Morecambe Punk Festival twice, Nice ‘N’ Sleazy Festival pre-party and supported the likes of Spear Of Destiny, 999, Peter and The Test Tube Babies, Gimp Fist, Dirt Box Disco and loads more; their track ‘United States Of Generica’ was used by YouTuber and engineer Colin Furze, helping widen their loyal fanbase beyond their beloved punk scene.
