Canada’s melancholic power-house TRAITRS has returned with “Dream Drowning,” a haunting exploration of the horrors found within the loop of everyday life. The single serves as a visceral precursor to their upcoming album, Possessor. Building on the critical success of 2021’s Horses in the Abattoir, the duo continues to refine their signature blend of dark imagery and emotive post-punk.
The new record boasts an impressive pedigree, produced by long-time collaborator Josh Korody (The Beaches, Japandroids) and mastered by the legendary Matt Colton (The Cure, Depeche Mode). “Dream Drowning” attempts to decode the subconscious emotions of our nightly dreams, wrapped in the cold, atmospheric production that has made TRAITRS a staple of the modern gothic and alternative scenes.
