Formed in 2015 by two Scottish sisters Brèagha Cuinn (Guitar and vocals) and Onnagh Cuinn (Bass and vocals) outside a small whiskey village called Tomintoul in the Highlands, Bratakus have been fiercely DIY since their inception.

Following the release of their incendiary ‘Final Girls’, ‘Tokened’ and ‘Turnstile’ singles in 2025, which marked their first recordings for Venn Records, Bratakus are ready to release their new album ‘Hagridden’, which is set for release February 13th.

Ahead of the album release, which features ten tracks of beautifully cathartic screaming punk rock, Bratakus are releasing a new single titled ‘Tonight’ that sets its targets squarely on the timely subject of media manipulation.

“It’s about how everyone is angry about the state of the world, but we are being thrown distractions to get us to hate the wrong people,” says singer and guitarist Brèagha Cuinn. “The fact that some people are happy to just look the other way and let it happen if they perceive that it’s not going to affect them, but in reality, we’re all on this planet together, and if we don’t have compassion for each other, and help each other out, we’ll be left with nothing.”

For the ‘Tonight’ video, the band wear the creepy baby masks that are featured on the cover of the album. Part of the concept behind the ‘Hagridden’ album deals with the fact that there’s so many scary events going on in the world that real life genuinely feels like a nightmare a lot of the time.
