Leeds trio Nape Neck release their debut LP The Shallowest End this Friday, just before embarking on a U.S. tour. The record captures their tangled, taut brand of post-punk—a sound equal parts chaotic and danceable, with dueling vocals and wiry rhythms recalling Scissor Girls and Erase Errata. Tracks like “Panacea” and the title song showcase clipped morse-code beats, delirious guitar work, and tightly wound grooves that embody both tension and release.
Formed by Claire Adams (bass), Bobby Glew (guitar), and Kathy Gray (drums), Nape Neck bring years of DIY touring and experimental spirit from past projects (Beards, Guttersnipe). The Shallowest End resists easy categorization while channeling the spiky energy of UK post-punk into something fiercely their own.
