Night Teacher, the creative project of songwriter/vocalist Lilly Bechtel and producer Matt Wyatt, have announced their highly anticipated sophomore album, Year of the Snake, arriving October 31 via First City Artists. Inspired by the Chinese Zodiac of 2025, the record explores themes of transformation, growth, and the instinctual forces that guide human survival.
Bechtel—an experienced trauma-informed teacher of yoga, meditation, poetry, and breathwork—infuses the album with her deep understanding of the body’s wisdom and the nonverbal ways trauma can be processed. Drawing from personal struggles with addiction, recovery, and healing, Bechtel turns pain into art, creating music that offers solace, reflection, and resilience.
Following their 2020 self-titled debut, Year of the Snake reflects the challenges and renewal found in the past few years. With poetic lyricism and atmospheric soundscapes, Night Teacher delivers a luminous and emotionally resonant album, reminding listeners that even in darkness, transformation is always possible.
