Canadian Post-Punks Aversions Drop Video For New Single “Base Case”

Vancouver trio Aversions are carving out their own lane in the post-punk underground, blending blistering intensity with moody atmosphere to create what they call “lush brutality.” Their sound pulls from the precision of post-hardcore, the serrated edge of early goth, and the raw nerve of noise rock—an alchemy that feels both cathartic and unsettling in the best way.

Their latest release, Empty Century, marks a bold evolution from 2023’s You Wanted the Bike, pushing further into sonic extremes without losing their tight grip on structure. Tracks like the title cut and “Kind Word” lean into stark, anthemic goth-rock, while “The Cockroach” taps into a doomy, Sabbath-esque melancholy that feels ritualistic in its weight. It’s a record that doesn’t just stretch their boundaries—it obliterates them.
