Chasing Dolls Release New Single

Growing up in towns local to each other in the south-west, Chasing Dolls were raised by sweaty grassroot gigs, the skatepark and parties in the middle of nowhere, taking the rollercoaster dynamic of the Midwest-Emo sound rooted across the pond in the US and giving it a gritty British twist; their own emo-inspired sound. Creating an escaping community is integral to Chasing Dolls, described by Dave Franklin from The Ink as: “A tribe made up of dreamers and sages, night crawlers and moshers, renegades and tearaways, people doing their own thing”.

Carrying small town pity to the city, Chasing Dolls make Bristol their creative hub. Taking inspiration from nights out together, different perspectives and tales expressed through a thought provoking and dynamic sound, characterised by emotive melodies and romantic lyricism. The bands’ passion is truly displayed through their live performances.

“Step On My Shadow is about the discovery and invitation of feelings that we have internally when meeting another human that gives us the all consuming, desperate, yet exciting and warming love buzz. Picture a scene set outside a venue, under the streetlights that cast a shadow of someone waiting to go in, and the muse that they’ve shared eye contact with. Then imagine all the thoughts this someone has felt, but wouldn’t translate properly.

The overthink that could juxtapose passion, the moment before someone makes a move, the longing for love that now feels in reach. Seems like many in this world would rather dismiss the overload of thoughts and sensations, than embrace the introspective and reflective experience of feeling.”
