Experimental ensemble ELECTRIO has released “Fac Me Cruce,” the first single taken from an exceptional debut album titled STABAT MATER which will be released in September 2025 through Fresh Ribes.

ELECTRIO is an ensemble that explores cross-disciplinary music, blending elements of baroque, electronic and contemporary styles. By combining the soft, expressive tones of the voice and the clear, crystalline tones of the guitar with the rich, multicolored textures of electronics, they create a distinctive and original sound. The ensemble seeks to bridge the gap between classical and contemporary music, offering a fresh, unconventional approach to performance.

The ensemble is made up of guitarist Francesco Rista, electroacoustic composer Simone Giordano and soprano Sandra Lind Þorsteinsdóttir. Their debut album, STABAT MATER, is due for release in September 2025 on the Fresh Ribes label.

“Fac me cruce” is the first single to be taken from the album, and lays the foundations for an exceptional recording inspired by the work of Marco Rosano. The album recreates a Stabat Mater (a religious sequence from the Middle Ages, traditionally attributed to the Franciscan poet Jacopone da Todi), reinterpreting pieces by Dowland and Monteverdi that convey the theme of mortality in a symbolic and poetic way.

In the Stabat Mater, the words “Fac me cruce” express a deep desire to be united with the suffering of the Virgin Mary at the foot of the cross during the crucifixion of Jesus. It’s a prayer to share in her sorrow, to feel her pain, and to be spiritually present in that moment of intense suffering. This track begins with the haunting sound of nails being driven into the cross. It sets the scene in a powerful way, helping the listener imagine and feel the weight of that solemn moment.
