Stream the new single from St Thomas, USVI-based artist Jon Gazi, who is also the full-time bassist for ska-punk greats Mad Caddies.

“The parallel between the energy of our diverse population that makes up Carnival here in the Caribbean Islands and that of a rock show overseas is astonishing and must be embodied,” says Jon Gazi of the Virgin Islands.

He is the pioneer of calypso rock music in the tropics, or “rockalypso” as he calls it, and is known for his and his bands’ lively performances at the annual Carnival celebrations and the world-renowned Foxy’s Old Year’s Night in the BVI.

The honor of performing alongside some of his life’s greatest inspirations, including Sean Paul, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Rancid, Morgan Heritage, Third World and Shaggy, has been earned through consistent dedication to his unique sound and musical style. A staunch fan base in the Caribbean has been built through tours in Europe, the USA, Japan, Ecuador, Hawaii and Central America.

The ebullient frontman tours tirelessly while holding down a full-time role as bassist for ska-punk legends Mad Caddies alongside his solo career.

International hardships and internal solutions fuel the fire Gazi stokes from his home base of St. Thomas, USVI. Throughout all his endeavors, he pays tribute to his dear friend, the late Tony Romano Jr. A fellow “Rockalypsonian” and co-founder of the original group ‘West Lindy’, Toro and Gazi paved the way while also remembering Lindy Frazier: a man known to the Virgin Islanders for his infectious smile and trademark cackle.” – SUZANNE BLANEY
