New Jersey’s The Ratchets have a special holiday gift in the form of the latest dispatch from their ongoing singles campaign, entitled “Holy Mother of God.” To close out 2024, these veteran agit-prop punk rockers have recorded an impassioned plea for peace…truly a holiday song as ONLY The Ratchets could write, and one whose message resonates at any time of year.
“Holy Mother Of God” is here to prove that all music, even holiday songs, should strive to be political. The song’s rock and roll majesty catches fire with an iconic guitar line against a steady backbeat. Lyrically it wrestles with conflict and togetherness and how anger and blame can entrap both individuals and entire nations. While the turmoil may be familial, geopolitical, or both – The Ratchets pull the thread to retain goodness in a world that seems harsh and full of deceit.
The understated but powerful music video for “Holy Mother of God” is out NOW on the Pirates Press Records YouTube channel, and the single will be out tomorrow – Friday, November 22, 2024 – on all major streaming platforms plus Bandcamp, along with Strawberry Zaiquiri‘s “Peace in the Middle East” version…just in time to blast it at your family’s holiday dinner table!
