Post-hardcore legends Refused are honoring the 25th anniversary of their groundbreaking album The Shape of Punk to Come with the release of a new video for “The Deadly Rhythm.” Written and directed by Nils Nygardh, the video is part of a series of special releases celebrating the influential 1998 album, widely regarded as a classic in the post-hardcore and punk scenes for its forward-thinking fusion of hardcore, punk, and electronic influences. The physical 25th-anniversary reissue of The Shape of Punk to Come is set to drop on March 28.
Adding to the celebration, Refused released a tribute album earlier this year, The Shape of Punk to Come Obliterated, featuring a stellar lineup of contemporary bands. Contributions from GEL, Fucked Up, Touché Amoré, Zulu, and IDLES breathe new life into the songs, showcasing how The Shape of Punk to Come continues to inspire the post-hardcore community and beyond.
Refused’s impact remains unmistakable, and this latest video release cements their status as pioneers whose legacy continues to shape the punk and post-hardcore scenes.
