Just ten months after shaking the airwaves with their debut album Uncharted Songs,  Montpellier’s trio Alan Fakeman is back in the  saddle with Another Horse, an EP galloping full  speed across the indie rock slacker landscape.

Still fueled by their laid-back mastery, Mathias  Dubar and Sébastien Gils, alongside their stage  companion, deliver a second sonic kick, less brooding but just as daring, after crisscrossing France on their musical journey.

While Uncharted Songs wandered through arid and introspective lands, Another Horse feels lighter, a carefree gallop across a field of ‘90s inspired harmonies and relentless melodies. But don’t be fooled beneath the laid-back exterior lie compositions that hit hard, like the crack of a whip.

Each track is a bold escape, a trot between light and shadow. From the garage riffs of “Struggled to Feel the Joy” to the playful rhythms of “Pepper”, and not forgetting the essential “Grandma’s Secret Place”, the band juggles raw energy and stripped-down poetry. Alan Fakeman, self-professed devotees of that wild stallion of indie rock, Mark Linkous and his majestic Sparklehorse, skillfully avoids the conventional hurdles to carve out their own distinct musical path. With this new release, Alan Fakeman proves that indie rock is alive and kicking, ready to gallop forward with the unique stride of a band that refuses to stay penned in by convention. So saddle up, grab those reins, and let Another Horse take you on a wild, free-spirited ride through sonic landscapes begging to be explored.
