French indie artist Leo Leonard has released a new single and video “Get To You.”
For 10 years, Leo Leonard was best known as half of the iconic French pop act the Pirouettes; this autumn, he releases a new solo EP: Best buddy for a run.
On this new EP, Leo reconnects with his early influences, leaning toward folk and country music, and English as his primary language for songwriting – all of which recalls his beginnings in the indie rock band Coming Soon.
The song Get to you is a first glimpse of this new material, in the form of a love letter, infused with longings and melancholy: the work of a deeply romantic mind ready to do anything to win the heart of his crush – however unreachable this heart is.
An impossible love, and yet: the muse who inspired Leo actually plays her own self in the music video for Get to you, blurring the line between reality and fiction, and allowing the musician to deepen his own artistic endeavor. So melancholy, yes. But the kind that makes you feel good.
Leo Leonard is an indie pop musician and songwriter based in Paris, gazing out, digging in, putting in the work. A drummer in the indie rock band Coming Soon, then half of the acclaimed French pop act The Pirouettes, he’s sharpened his craft from a very young age. He has recently embarked on a solo career, using his unique knack for catchy melodies to express deeply personal feelings – sometimes heavy, sometimes light. Best buddy for a run, Leo Leonard next EP, will be out this autumn.
