Ofício Infame is a punk rock/hardcore band from Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil. Formed in July 2021, its members are Luigi Rockero (drums), Samuel Kircher (guitars), Beto Gonzales (bass) and Hugo Arend (vocals). So far, the band has released two EPs (Enigma, Dec./2023 and Futuro Presente, Aug./2024). The band composes always in Portuguese in the matrix of Californian punk rock of the 1990s, taking as main influences Bad Religion, Pennywise and Social Distortion (although each member comes from other backgrounds). The band focuses on existential questions of humanity with a (self)critical and reflective perspective.
The new EP (Futuro Presente) has four new compositions, recorded at Hill Valley Studio (drums), by Davi Pacote, and at Renatão Studio (other instruments and mixing), by Renato Osorio. Hoje, Sempre, Ainda deals with the alternative world of skateboarding, which the vocalist was a part of for decades and which still inspires him; Futuro Presente develops the theme of Human selfish and destructive drives that have lead us here and that will (perhaps) lead us to a future we already know; Revides is inspired by Tom & Jerry (and recorded, coincidentally, on the day of its creator’s death) and deals with the retaliations we face on a daily basis; Poder e Verdade is inspired by the all-too-human disposition to hierarchize truths and dominate discourse.
