Indoctrinate – Kollapse LP (Grazil Records)

Grazil Records treated us with another excellent piece of underground music. “Kollapse” is a new full-length album by Indoctrinate, a Vienna-based band with several impressive recordings released in the past. This particular album carries dozens of powerful, aggressive, and in-your-face songs that will satisfy even the pickiest fans of raw and fast music. For those stumbling upon this band for the first time, Indoctrinate blends fundamental elements of hardcore punk, grindcore, powerviolence, metal, and many more. Their music continuously levitates between recognizable old-school maneuvers and some modern approaches, offering something for everyone. These experimentations with different styles and approaches resulted in an impressive material, fully stacked with some of the best tracks underground music has seen in a long time.

Indoctrinate doesn’t waste any time. They immediately tear everything down with explosive vocals, tremendous sonic, and fast-paced rhythmic maneuvers that will satisfy even the pickiest listeners. Each composition arrives with a wisely constructed structure fully stacked with energetic rhythmic sequences and heavy, powerful, abrasive guitar works while the band delivers a socio-political message pointed toward all the injustices that struck mankind. The band paid so much attention while assembling all these riffs and chord progressions, so Indoctrinate showcases variety from scratch to finish. Besides those fast-paced, heavily distorted, hardcore punk virtuosities, you’ll notice many metallic, chuggy, noisy sonic acrobatics that make these songs so fresh, unique, innovative, and like nothing you’ve heard before. There’s a thick layer of low-ends lurking around, supporting all these mentioned guitar works to the max. Besides offering heftiness, clearness, and depth, these basslines add a touch of complexity while binding guitars to the remainder of the rhythm section.

The completely insane drumming acts as a fully engaged sonic rollercoaster that takes the listener on a dynamic, bumpy, exciting ride with all those cleverly constructed beats, breaks, fills, accentuations, and other percussive acrobatics. The rhythm section plays an equal role in shaping such a powerful and aggressive ambiance while keeping everything in line. Indoctrinate thought about everything while writing, composing, arranging, and producing their latest material, resulting in one of the best European hardcore releases this year. Tracks like “Normalcy Uber Alles,” “Confessions Of A True Pundit (….NAWT!),” “Smells Like Freedom,” “Where’s The Straw That Breaks Camel’s Back,” and “Representative Dorkalitarianism” are just some of the standouts and you should unquestionably pay equal attention the entire album. It’s a masterpiece you surely don’t want to miss. “Kollapse” arrives as standard black or white with a black splatter vinyl variant, so pick up your favorite one and blast it as loud as possible. Head to Grazil Records for more information about ordering this gem.
