New Jersey rockers THE RATCHETS are in the midst of releasing a steady stream of brand new digital singles over the next 12-18 months, and they’ve decided as well to reach into the vaults to reward longtime fans with digital releases of rare and unreleased songs under the banner of Odds & Ends. Click here to listen to Odds & Ends: Volume One.
Odds & Ends, the band’s collection of B-sides, outtakes, and demos, was a vinyl-only release issued in 2018. No one remembers the reason for not releasing it digitally at the time, but after the vinyl sold out and was unlikely to be repressed, the band decided to release these tracks digitally as a series of volumes, adding additional tracks not originally included along the way.
First in the series, Odds & Ends: Volume One compiles two outtakes from the First Light recording sessions; a cover of The Velvet Underground’s masterful “Rock & Roll” (originally released as the B-side of the “Gotta Be Cool” hologram 7”) along with the reggae-flavored “Federal Girls.”
