Austin TX based band, Boss Battle have released a new song called “Mammoths.”
“Whenever we “write” we make an effort to abandon any sort of structure and simply bounce parts back and forth with drums and amps at full volume and a recorder running” says band member Chico Jones, adding “There are countless tunes with the working title “ fast one “ and most of them get trashed. This one had strong legs. So hit the play button and get out of the way.”
Boss Battle channels a sludgy, dirty, hard-pop feel by layering a backdrop of precise beats with stomach-dropping synthetic bass, walls of dark twisting analog synths, and a thick spread of robotic, sputtery guitar tonality. Dual lead male/female vocals bring a glimmer of pop to the mix, leaving you with a textural mass of heavy, yet catchy tones you can thrash to or sing along with. They’ve been likened to sounds from The Jesus Lizard, Pixies, Dead Weather, Deftones and Failure. Based out of Austin, TX and entrenched in its flourishing music scene for decades, Boss Battle is releasing a slew of singles over the next year.
