Hailing from Chicago and New Jersey, Hold My Own are creating 100% pure, in-your-face hardcore. Today, the band announce the new EP, In My Way, set for release October 20th on DAZE, and share a music video for the title track. With the band members associated acts including The Mongoloids, Shattered Realm, MH Chaos, World Demise, and Sector, it’s no surprise Hold My Own are pumping out fiery tracks made for moshing. “In My Way” starts at full force and never lets up as tough as nails vocals meet beefy riffs and contemplative lyrics. The video for the track, was directed and filmed by Sunny Singh of hate5six in the living room of Anchit Chhabra (guitar/vocals) and Kashish Chhabra (bass) parent’s house, mixing family traditions with classic hardcore stylings, and can be watched HERE.
Speaking further on the track/video, Anchit states: “In My Way is about doing things how you want no matter what obstacle gets in your way… even if that obstacle is yourself and the thoughts inside your head. Being yourself and doing it your way. Frank Sinatra style.
To have the family involved in the video and bring in some family traditions/culture into the mix of hardcore.. is unexplainable. It was a unique experience and I’m glad it’s on a video that I can laugh at for the rest of my life. Everyone had a good time.”
Formed in 2021, Hold My Own dropped a demo that same year, followed by the Hold My Own EP in 2022, and released a split with Carried By Six earlier this year. Drawing from bands like Biohazard, Bulldoze, and Sheer Terror, the band take that old school energy and bring it into a modern fury. In My Way packs some serious breakdowns, surprising samples, and guest vocal features from Jon Ortiz of Sector and Senta of Japanese hardcore band Numb. The EP was engineered, recorded & mixed by Andy Nelson at Bricktop in Chicago, IL with main vocal engineered & recorded by Taylor Young at The Pit in Van Nuys, CA, It is available for preorder now through DAZE.
