Ranked: Slipknot Albums Ranked From Worst To Best

Slipknot, the American nu metal band hailing from Des Moines, Iowa, has been a powerhouse in the music industry since the late 1990s. Known for their intense performances, aggressive sound, and iconic masks, Slipknot has built a dedicated fanbase and released several influential albums over their career. In this album ranking, we will explore their discography and rank their seven studio albums from worst to best. Each album has its own unique style and impact, showcasing the evolution of Slipknot’s sound and artistic vision. Join us on this journey as we delve into the world of Slipknot and discover which albums stand out as their strongest and most compelling works.

07. THE END, SO FAR – Released on September 30, 2022, “The End, So Far” marks the seventh studio album by Slipknot. It is the band’s final release through Roadrunner Records, with whom they originally signed in 1998. Their latest effort showcases a few standout moments. However, it falls short of delivering the hard-hitting tracks that Slipknot is widely recognized and celebrated for.

06. ALL HOPE IS GONE – Released in 2008, “All Hope Is Gone” represents a period of transition for Slipknot. While it still contains some heavy and aggressive tracks, it also has a more mainstream sound compared to their earlier albums. Some fans felt that it lacked the raw energy and intensity that initially drew them to Slipknot.

05. 5: THE GRAY CHAPTER – This album, released in 2014, marked Slipknot’s return after the passing of their bassist, Paul Gray. While it captures the band’s emotions and grief, some fans found the overall sound and songwriting to be slightly inconsistent compared to their earlier work.

04. WE ARE NOT YOUR KIND – Released in 2019, “We Are Not Your Kind” is a highly successful and critically acclaimed album. It successfully blends heaviness, melody, and experimentation, while also addressing personal and emotional themes. It showcases Slipknot’s evolution as musicians and their ability to push boundaries.

03. VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES) – Released in 2004, this album demonstrates Slipknot’s growth as songwriters and their willingness to experiment. It features a more melodic and introspective sound, exploring themes such as personal struggles and inner demons while still maintaining their heavy and aggressive edge.

02. SLIPKNOT – Slipknot’s self-titled debut album, released in 1999, introduced the world to their unique brand of aggressive and chaotic metal. It showcases their raw intensity and shocking nature, which was a breath of fresh air for many metal fans. However, compared to their later albums, it may lack the refined songwriting and production quality.

01. IOWA – Considered by many fans as Slipknot’s masterpiece, “IOWA” (released in 2001) is a dark and uncompromising album that dives deep into themes of anger, pain, and despair. It showcases the band’s raw emotional energy and intense performances, solidifying their status as one of the leading forces in the nu-metal genre.
