Rituals Released New Single & Video “Cataclysm”

Newcastle-based metal act –and Kerrang! Radio, THE DEAL competition winners–RITUALS today release their ferocious new EP ‘I FOUND MYSELF IN THE DARK’, out now on MarshallRecords. To celebrate its release, the band has also dropped a brand-new video for ‘CATACLYSM’, the band’s heaviest work to date. Fans can watch – HERE.

After many weeks locked away in a rehearsal space in the heart of Newcastle EwanLee (guitar) and Matthew Dix (Drums) had the bones and brutal instrumental framework for what would eventually be tracked at The Marshall Studio.

“It’s undoubtedly the heaviest track on the release,” says vocalist Lewis MacRae “the lowest the guitars have been tuned, the most visceral and evil the lyrics have ever been… It’s frantic and destructive.”

MacRae continues, expanding on the inspirations and dark themes that manifested in the track’s creation: “The pure force behind the song drove me down this road of frantically watching horror movies, digging out old video games to play as characters that walked through a world simply devastating all in their path.”

“After several days of delving into gory games and movies the song theme was clear as day. It needed to be evil and needed to be violent. So, the theme of demons, slaughter and being dragged to hell to endure eternal torment run deep within Cataclysm… It might not one to play at the dinner table, but it’s certainly circle pit material.”

Formed in 2018 as a college project, RITUALS quickly gained industry recognition and are set to make waves in 2023. Backed by influential tastemakers, the band’s debut EP “Awake” garnered support, with Kerrang!’s Alex Baker championing them on his Fresh Blood show. Known for their electrifying live performances, RITUALS has supported notable acts like Skindred and As Everything Unfolds, solidifying their presence in the UK music scene. Their EP “Show Me the Signs” showcases their evolving song writing and musical maturity, with each track exuding a unique energy. Winning Kerrang! Radio’s The Deal competition in 2023 secured them the chance to record a game-changing EP with Marshall Records and perform at the 20th Anniversary of Download Festival.
