Get The Shot – Merciless Destruction CD (New Damage Records)

Get The Shot came a long way from a local act to a renowned band with worldwide recognition in something more than a decade. During that period, they released four outstanding recordings: In Fear We Stand, Perdition, No Peace In Hell, and Infinite Punishment. The most significant fact about all these releases is that Get The Shot always sounded top-notch, and these recordings don’t have any weak moments. They gained recognition by investing hard work, effort, ideas, and musicianship into their albums, and the quality is more than evident. If you take the way back in time and listen to these records, you’ll notice that these Canadians always maintained top quality, highly decorated with aggression, heaviness, and power. That’s the case with Merciless Destruction, their latest full-length release that comes out this Friday, October 7th, via New Damage Records.

Merciless Destruction carries eleven excellent beatdown hardcore tracks that pretty much come as a follow-up to their previous recordings. However, if you pay closer attention to these songs, you’ll notice that Merciless Destruction differs from their previous records. Get The Shot managed to maintain their sound but also tweak, improve, and enhance some things that perhaps those previous recordings lacked. Most of the improvements come through sound that satisfies all the trends of contemporary music production. There are also impressive song structures, arrangements, accentuations, and other sonic delicacies that enhance the listening experience. It would be so foolish of me not to mention the mindblowing amount of ideas, riffs, and rhythmic acrobatics involved in the entire process. Get The Shot even thought about the tiniest details you could think of at the moment, and as soon you press play, you’ll notice these guys are not joking around with their music.

Perhaps Get The Shot solely rely upon hardcore sound, but don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the best properties of similar extreme music genres. These guys implemented the finest elements borrowed from metalcore, beatdown, thrash metal, and even old-school death metal. Therefore, Merciless Destruction is not another hardcore release you stumble upon daily. You’ll notice that once thoughtfully arranged themes, shreds, and riffs commence. The guitar players continuously duel for dominance during the entire material, and their musicianship will keep your ears occupied for a while. You’ll even notice thick and heavy low-end tones in the mix. These basslines are responsible for tremendous heaviness lurking around. Nothing would sound so profoundly dynamic without excellent drumming based upon complex rhythmic sequences, accentuations, and hectic drum fills. Of course, the lead vocalist was always one of the heaviest weapons in their sonic arsenal, and, as usual, he delivered an outstanding performance. Merciless Destruction is all about power, aggression, and creativity. This material possesses so many qualities that it would be a shame not to discover it yourself. Head to Dine Alone web store and pre-order your vinyl, or CD, or keep your eyes peeled on streaming platforms.
