Windley – Starving

South Carolina pop-punk quartet Windley has released a new track today. I have to admit it’s been a while since I’ve heard something like this, and I am glad I discovered this band. Their brand new track sounds so refreshing compared to the bland contemporary pop-punk tunes that pop up on streaming services every day. Instead of polishing their sound to the max, as many other bands would do, Windley solely rely on a more natural, rehearsing room/studio ambiance. Not to forget their brilliant ideas and musical experience, which is vividly hearable on this track. Therefore, Starving sounds heavy, energetic, entertaining, and ear-appealing from scratch to finish.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice these guys are not joking around. Starving has an excellent structure, catchy arrangements, and many clever accentuations. The band is heavily inspired by the nineties melodic punk rock and pop punk, but don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some heavier music genres along the way. The amount of segments Windley invested into this song is nearly mindblowing, so there’s no way you will be bored by this one. The guitars are continuously dueling for dominance, and you’ll notice how the lead guitar bursts with beautiful melodies while the rhythm guitar delivers rad chord progressions.

Another thing that I love about this song are the hearable low-end tones. The bass guitar is almost equally present in the mix as the remainder of the instruments. Nothing would sound so profoundly dynamic without the excellent rhythmic performance. The drummer invested a lot of effort into this song, and you’ll unquestionably notice how these beets are uplifting Starving on an entirely new level. There’s no doubt in my mind this song will end up on your punk rock playlist. Starving is available for listening on all streaming services.
