Straight out of the Long Island, NY music scene, Private Mind make dynamic, melodic, post-hardcore that is sure to catch your ears. Today the band shares their new single, “Strangers”, alongside announcing their signing with Static Era Records. The track is a bouncy number highlighted by an anthemic chorus and punchy guitars. Lyrically, as vocalist Dan Alivio puts it, “‘Strangers’ is about the desire to experience the things you enjoy doing for the first time again, in times when depression seems to drain the excitement out of them.” The song can be found as a bonus track on the new physical release of the band’s 2020 self-titled EP, available for purchase here.
Boasting members of Long Island Hardcore acts such as Warehouse, Hangman, Detriment, and Ennui, Private Mind’s musical style scratches an entirely different itch. Taking influence from hometown bands like On the Might of Princes and Silent Majority, just as much as acts like Jawbox and Fugazi, the songs are as innovative as they are catchy. The driving rhythms are wrapped in dynamic guitars, complemented by radio-friendly choruses vocalized by singer/guitarist Dan Alivio. Rounding out the band are Mike Varley (bass), Sal Manaro (drums), and Anthony Manaro (guitar). Private Mind plans to have an active 2022, writing new music and touring across the east coast.
