Winds Of Promise – Cut. Heal. Scar. LP (Unity Worldwide Records / Revelation Records / CoreTex Records)

Cut. Heal. Scar. is a brand new full-length record by Winds Of Promise, Orange County melodic hardcore group comprised of veterans in the genre. Winds Of Promise represents a group started by former members of some renowned groups, such as Uniform Choice, Unity, Ignite, The Killing Flame, Blood Days, Speak 714, Triggerman, Automatic Loveletter, LastLight and probably even more along the way. Winds Of Promise started its sonic endeavors when Joe D Foster and Pat Longrie decided to create a brand new band, so they recruited Joe Nelson, formerly of Ignite and Triggerman, and picked up Mike Kenyon as a bass player. The group previously published an exceptional self-titled full-length that gathered some positive critics among the worldwide hardcore punk scene.

For those who are encountering their music for the first time, Winds Of Promise gathers all the best affinities hardcore has to offer. It would be such a waste to classify them under one branch since these experienced musicians have so much to offer than just plain old melodic hardcore music. The group sounds both melodic, emotional, sincere, but in the blink of an eye, they transform into feral machinery stacked with some tight shreds. Their dynamics are completely insane, but the group sounds firm at the same time. Judging by melodic structures, arrangements, and drumming, Winds Of Promise resembles the sound of earlier Ignite and Staring Into The Sun era by Uniform Choice. However, you may also find a lot of similarities with DC hardcore groups such as Dag Nasty, Embrace, Ignition, Gray Matter, or Rites Of Spring. The entire group liberates enormous dosages of exceptional musicianship that reminiscent eighties hardcore punk sound.

Like the vast portion of groups from the Revolution Summer era, Winds Of Promise are covering a wide array of themes through their lyrics. The lyrics are very personal, and they are talking about some personal stances, relationships, friendships, situations, and circumstances. Just like the musical aspect of the group, the lyrics are very detailed, direct, and on point. Guitars are liberating complex chord progressions, arpeggiated thematics, and other melodic guitar shreds. The guitar works are mainly responsible for such resemblance with eighties hardcore punk bands. Compelling basslines are entirely responsible for the density of the sound, but they also fulfill the gaps between guitars and drums. Excellent drumming performance surrenders enough dynamics into the atmosphere, so the complete material appears even more interesting and entertaining. If you’re profoundly into eighties hardcore drumming technicalities, you’ll love rhythmical structures of this band.

Cut. Heal. Scar. represents a proper continuation of the previous self-titled debut album. However, unlike its predecessor, Cut. Heal. Scar. profoundly examines old school melodic hardcore punk sound and provides a very detailed throwback into the era when hardcore music was much more entertaining and fun than nowadays. Winds Of Promise are bringing melodic hardcore back on the map through dozen of sincerely performed numbers that will force you to love this particular genre even more. Cut. Heal. Scar. is available on vinyl at Unity Worldwide Records, Revelation Records, and CoreTex Records.
