Caspian – On Circles DLP (Triple Crown Records)

Caspian is a remarkable post-rock group originating from Beverly, Massachusets. The band has been formed in 2003, and these skillful practitioners of melancholic music have produced numerous recordings since then. Their current discography consists of notable full-length albums such as The Four Trees, Tertia, Walking Season, and Dust And Disquiet. They also published loads of other recordings such as You Are The Conductor, Tour, and split releases with bands like Junius and Constant. All these recordings sound magnificent but also showcase the evolutive process of this distinctive band. On Circles is their fifth full-length album consisting of eight astounding compositions that reach beyond classic post-rock aesthetic. This particular comprehensive collection of melancholic melodies, wonderful calmy tones, and slowdown tempos should be defined as pure art saturated in a subtle sonic form. Guitar harmonizations have been thoughtfully assembled to attain a certain melancholic atmosphere. Still, wondrous guitar dualities resemble some sacral moments, and these skillful musicians are definitely pros in this field of expertise. These maneuvers have been achieved by fusing several guitar effects such as reverb, delay, or echo, so you’ll get the feeling like you’re witnessing the colossal guitar sounds somewhere deep in the cave. Each guitar segment has been installed at the right spot, so all the admirers of calmy post-rock music can just lay back, and solely enjoy the entire show. Gradually distorted guitar works have been immensely supported by massive bass sounds that are emitting cleverly arranged basslines. These basslines provide superior support to a well-defined rhythm section. Drumming performance goes beyond comprehension. The sheer amount of consolidated drumming technics, rhythms, fills, and other rhythmical performances undoubtfully enhance this marvelous record. Caspian also implements some acoustic tones in this divine journey, so with great assurance, I can conclude that On Circles includes all the vital elements of a brilliant post-rock album. All these orchestrations are playing a big role in cleverly executed compositions of Caspian, and their music evolution definitely never ceases to perplex fans of their euphonious music. On Circles has been accompanied by a simplistic color photograph of some kind of entrance with an opened door painted in blue. The rest of the cover reveals the pink walls surrounding the door. Perhaps the band wanted to signify their music as relaxing by supplementing some subtle colored visual identity. On Circles has been published as double vinyl and compact disc by Triple Crown Records. The vinyl comes in various color variants, so grab your sonic weapon of choice and solely enjoy this post-rock masterpiece in its entirety.
