Constant Elevation – S/T 7” (Revelation Records)

Perhaps Constant Elevation is a new hardcore punk act on the contemporary scene, but the members are internationally known for their previous contributions to the worldwide hardcore scene. The line up consists of Sammy Siegler (Youth Of Today, Shelter, Judge, Project X, Rival School, World Be Free..among many others) on drums, and Vinnie Caruana (The Movielife, I Am The Avalanche and Peace’d Out) on vocals. The remainder of the band comprises of Andrew Kline (Strife, World Be Free, Berthold City…amidst others), Joe Garlipp (World Be Free, Despair and Fadeaway) and Alex Baretto (Inside Out, Chain Of Strength, Against The Wall, Excel…among many others). Constant Elevation delivers gracious servings of youth crew hardcore punk right to the table. Guitars are sounding tight, the spirit of youth crew hardcore is definitely present through the entire recording, but these powerful shreddings offer even more. These unyielding instrumentations have been intensified by plentiful of remarkable melodic moments, absolutely drenched in those classic hardcore punk riffages. Various guitar dualities have been saturated by a highly dynamic rhythm section, and accompanying basslines that certainly elevate the ambiance on entirely another level. Vocals are varying from classic hardcore shouting to the much cleaner melodic chants, which are accommodating notable melodic features of the group. Constant Elevation contributes a certain sound that’s not easy to define in a couple words. Their music definitely fits into some old school hardcore standards, but there’s a lot more than meets the eye. Somehow these immensely creative individuals have managed to intersect late eighties hardcore music with delightful harmonies of mid-nineties punk rock. Then again, you’ll have a hard time pairing them with just one legendary hardcore punk band. Besides some fundamental characteristics of Gorilla Biscuits, Shelter, Better Than A Thousand, and Chain Of Strength, Constant Elevation goes even further into explorations with this remarkable sound, but still preserves aggression of Youth Of Today, Judge, Insted, Bold and other prominent hardcore punk bands of that era. These experimentations have resulted in three profoundly vigorous compositions that will suit admirers of youth crew hardcore music. This brilliant 7” record has been published by legendary Revelation Records, so check out their website for more detailed information about ordering.
